Thoughts on Kemoeatu

In talking with Chris Kemoeatu last weekend at mini-camp, I got the idea that he was feeling a little pressure.

Kemoeatu talked time and again about not wanting to let his teammates down as he attempts to replace All-Pro Alan Faneca at left guard.

Kemoeatu has talent. That's never been the question with him. It's his work ethic, not so much on the field, but off of it. He's never been one to hit the books very hard.

With the starting spot now in front of him, Kemoeatu seems to finally get it.

He talked about how the other veterans were counting on him and how he didn't want to let them down.

It's a start.

Great info, thanks Dale. I was hoping Kemo would finally show he wanted to be a full time starter. It's good to hear he doesn't want to let his teammates down... It shows he cares about the team and is willing to do what it takes to be a solid guard.

Dale,

In your opinion, who is the last guy out of the starting OL.....Hartwig, Colon, Starks, Kemo, Simmons or Smith. I am assuming Mahan will be demoted to backup status at guard & center at best.

As long as he doesn't confuse his playbook with the room-service menu again 8]

I would have to guess, without seeing them hit yet, that Starks will again be the odd man out. But his ability to play the left side was a big reason he lost it last year.
He did most of his work at LT with Marvel sitting out and never really got a shot to take on Colon head-to-head.
