Neck injury landed Smith on ir

According to Steelers Digest - Bob Labriola - it was a neck injury that landed Aaron Smith on injured reserve. Smith had been sitting out with a foot injury.

It appears that Smith's brilliant NFL career is over.

@ Chris Hoke is among the Steelers inactives. Steve McLendon will get the start. Corbin Bryant is also active.

Say what? Did he suffer this neck injury within the past week? If not, the NFL won't be happy with the Steelers for falsifying their injury reports.

I believe the neck injury was something the discovered later. Tough to prove. I'm sure Mike Florio will try to turn it into something its not.

Tomlin said during his presser that Smith had been having pain, but thought it was just regular soreness. When he missed games because of the foot injury, the neck pain persisted. He went to the team doctors, they checked him out and said he'd need surgery to correct the problem.
Tomlin said Smith is going to have whatever procedure is needed, done.

Haha, Florio is exactly who I had in mind when I made that post.
