Steelers-Lions game-day thread

It's a rainy day here in Pittsburgh, though temperatures are mild and there's not a lot of wind on the field.

The Heinz Field turf looks OK, for now. But today's game will be the fourth game played here in the past seven days. That can take a toll.

LaMarr Woodley, Brett Keisel and Ramon Foster are out for the Steelers, as are Landry Jones, Derek Moye, Shamarko Thomas and Richard Gordon.

Guy Whimper will start at left guard. Jarvis Jones will start at ROLB, with Jason Worilds moving over to LOLB.

For Detroit, WR Nate Burleson is out again, as the team's best edge pass rusher Ziggy Ansah.

Also, rookie LaAdrian Waddle will start at RT, while Devin Taylor will start in place of Ansah at defensive end.

Nice D to go into the old soft, deep zone, no pressure shell with the lead.

Good start by the offense, but now the wheels are coming off.

McBriar has a job next week thanks to one kick. Actually gave him an okay day.
Steelers won the turnover battle.
Made some great adjustments.
Looking like they may never get a decent draft pick.

Dale, We're at Cleveland next week, no chance, okay? But seriously, playing a team like the Lions, a division leader, the way the Steelers did today, does give us hope for the future. BTW, good call Patrick on the other thread.

I'm curious to know what the D differently in the second half. New scheme, better execution or did the weather slow down the Lions that much?

Probably a combination of all three.

That felt good.

27 pts in the first half, 0 in the second and 35 yds passing. Great read and pick by Will Allen, glad the Steelers were able to get him back. He was an underrated off-season loss.

Offense finally got untracked. The OL got the job done. Not sure why there's not a qb sneak down there at the 1 foot line when they had to settle for a FG.

Another nice game from Cam Heyward and Hood with the game-ending sack. J Jones made a couple plays as well. If Ike could only catch...

I thought the Steelers earned a tough victory today over an impressive Lions team. They just need to stay consistent if they want to be good. http://philidelphiaeaglesseason.blogspot.com/ is my blog.
